Mainstream stands up to protect children from LGBTIQA+ drag queens

It’s been a bad week for sexualised gender-bending LGBTIQA+ drag queens but a good week for the innocence of children.

The $1.3 billion a year taxpayer-funded ABC bowed to mainstream pressure and cancelled a planned drag queen story time event for children as young as three.

This is a rare setback for LGBTIQA+ politics but shows what happens when mainstream Australians speak up.

The event, organised by the little-known ABCQueer channel, was to be held at Rockdale Library in Sydney's south on February 22 as part of the annual LGBTIQA+ Mardi Gras.

“The ABC is filming a drag story time event for the 2024 Mardi Gras broadcast and is looking for children between the ages of 3-5 years to take part,” ABC presenter Mon Shafter, who is the head of content for the ABCQueer channel, wrote on the Rainbow Families Community Facebook page.

“If you and your tiny humans are interested in taking part, please email,” she said as part of her pitch to recruit toddlers.

There was a massive public backlash.
